Field Arts Bootcamp – New Mexico – October 22–25, 2025
NOTE: WILL GO ON SALE MEMORIAL WEEKEND 2025.
Join us in New Mexico’s legendary Georgia O’Keeffe country, at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu for four days and three nights of pure immersion in field arts: nature journaling, field sketching and watercolor, animal tracking, birdwatching, reading the weather, using field optics, found pigments and inks, and much more.
Imagine the luxury of doing nothing but exploring wild nature and journaling in a cohort of like-minded fellow journalers . . . and with customized one-on-one feedback and skills-specific tutoring throughout the whole experience.
We spend the entire time in one gorgeous location, with dramatic sandstone cliffs behind us and overlooking the famous Pedernal Peak that Georgia painted over 50 times. We may have one optional field trip to a nearby riparian area, but for most of the time we explore on foot around the hacienda and spend our time developing our skills and enjoying the solitude, silence, and nearby nature. We will have an extensive “learning lab” set up for you to try new ideas and devleop new skills in your journaling practice.
The Field Arts Boot Camp is suitable for beginners to advanced journalers, as your Boot Camp experience is tailored to your appropriate level. Nurturing, inquisitive, and expansive.
No excuses. Just pure nature journaling growth and mindset, in a relaxing and supportive environment.

Additional Information / FAQ:
What is your cancellation policy?
You may cancel the New Mexico Field Arts Bootcamp up until midnight August 15, 2025 for a refund of your payment less a $75 fee (because of the Ghost Ranch’s very strict cancellation policy). You may also roll over your payment to another Bootcamp.
Why do you require trip insurance for each participant?
This is to ensure you have medical evacuation coverage (nearly all the Bootcamps will be in remote locations, with no nearby medical help) and that your costs are covered if we have to cancel the Bootcamp due to local emergencies or global health crises. We will provide you with a link to a provider closer to the workshop.
Can I bring a partner who does not nature journal?
Yes, for the camping option only. Add your partner for meals plus admin fee; price on request.
Can I camp?
Yes! We have a camping option for a few vehicles.
Do you offer special dietary options?
Please contact us after registration with your dietary needs (because spaces are extremely limited, do not delay your purchase). We will work with you and the venue if at all possible.
Do you allow pets?
Sorry, we cannot accommodate pets, even though the ranch allows them, they are not conducive to a group journaling experience.
I am interested in driving to the ranch instead of taking the shuttle.
The road from Albuquerque is an easy state highway; to access the private lodge on the Ghost Ranch is an easy dirt road of about three miles. Because of limited parking, we may ask that you leave your vehicle in the main parking area and ride on the shuttle into the remote Lodge.
Are there flights to Albuquerque, New Mexico?
Yes, there are regular flights. Plan to arrive the day before, to be ready for an early morning departure. Likewise, plan to fly out the day after the final day.
Where do I meet the shuttle in Albuquerque?
We will depart from the Sheraton Albuquerque Airport hotel at 8:00 am on Wednesday, October 22 and return by late afternoon Saturday, October 25. The Sheraton has a free airport shuttle and restaurants onsite. Roseann and Jonathan will be staying there on the 21st.
